Trent just looked at him. “I’m nothing like you,” he added, before joining his friends. Tommy just remained on the floor, staring at the elevator at the end of the hall as it closed, the four teens disappearing from sight. He pulled himself against the wall, and put his head in his hands.

“Wonderful. Way to go Tommy. You get to screw everything up,” he muttered to himself.

“You didn’t screw up everything,” Kimberly told him, kneeling beside him, placing her hand on his shoulder.

“Yeah, you just screwed this one up,” Rocky assured him. Tommy just looked at him.“What’s going on?” A sleepy Conner, awakened by the sudden yelling, sat up and looked around wildly. Trent, who had slumped against him, slid down to the floor and woke with a yelp as he hit the ground painfully.

“Nothing,” Jason told them. “Tommy and Kim were just spending a couple of hours rolling around on the floor.”

Tommy looked up, startled. “Where is everyone?”

“Trini’s having a video game war with the Blues and Kira and Zack are pawing through my CD collection,” Jason explained. He smirked at Tommy, who was still lying on Kimberly. “Having fun?” Tommy’s eyes widened in horror and he scrambled off of Kimberly as though only just realizing what he was doing.“Goldar.” Kim said absently, measuring the right amount of aquarium salt into the water Jason had brought her. “The other one is Alpha.”

Trini switched her attention over to the other tank and crooned at the second fish. “Hi Alpha.” She said sweetly, as if she were talking to a human baby.

Goldar and Alpha were actually the fourth of their line. It had started, simply enough, with a visit from Kim’s little sister. Charlotte, the daughter of her mother and stepfather, had been visiting Kim’s house in Turtle Cove and won two small carp at the local carnival. Kim had grudgingly bought a small tank to keep them in and promised to keep good care of them when Charlotte returned to Paris. Within a week of Charlotte’s visit, the two were dead and Kim flushed them away. But within another month, business brought her stepfather Andre back to California and Kim was mortified to learn Charlotte was coming with him.
