“Again, this is all your fault!” Adam said, splashing Tommy.
“No way. Its Jason’s and Rocky’s and Zack’s,” Tommy stated. “They’re the ones who said we had nothing to do, then had to go and mention bar hopping.”
“How about it’s all your faults?” Trent offered. “Come on, I’ll go get Billy. Maybe he can find a way out of this.”
“Fat chance,” Rocky muttered as they complied and followed the teens out of the pool. Rocky, Adam, Zack, Tommy, Jason, Conner, and Ethan all headed back into the hotel to shower off and prepare themselves for an evening of misery, while Trent went in search of Billy.
It didn’t take him very long to find the adult standing against the wall, a cell phone to his ear. He was still chatting away.“Then how come you told Hayley?” Conner asked curiously.
“I didn’t tell Hayley,” Tommy said grimly. “Do you really think I could keep that from her for long? She found out a few months after we moved in together.”
Ethan choked on his water. “You and Hayley used to live together?”
“For a couple years, yeah. Our college didn’t allow coed roommates, so we rented a house together off-campus. I was sick of getting stuck in the dorm elevators, especially since she wouldn’t come up to my room and help me with my homework when the elevator was broken, and she needed someone to go in with on the rent. Hence, roomies.”
“Oh, so you didn’t live together as in live together,” Conner said, nodding wisely. “I gotcha.”The anti nausea band Billy had given her helped a bit, but once it started, it was difficult to get under control. She crawled from the waste facility to the narrow bed Billy kept in the lab and curled up into a fetal position. Sweat beaded on her forehead and matted her hair to her face.
This should have been a wonderful time. Her divorce would be final on Monday morning and her soon to be ex was getting re-married on Tuesday. The final decree had taken a bit longer than she had thought it would. Geirge had decided to quibble a bit over the settlement after he’d received the news that her baby wasn’t his. She hadn’t wanted to argue the matter, but her lawyer and Billy both insisted the man shouldn’t walk away with everything. He had finally stopped bickering when his girlfriend had gone into false labor. She was due to deliver her baby any day and he now wanted the divorce finalized as quickly as she did.
