Tommy glared at Kimberly and Trini as they kept him from killing the still laughing red ranger behind him, but he stopped fighting them, knowing he would only make things worse for himself if he did. “Keep laughing, hyena boy,” he growled, instead, but continued to follow the group. Kira, Ethan, and Trent were shooting glares at their own red ranger. This was his fault, and they knew they’d all be paying for it when Tommy forgot about Jason; Although that didn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.
“Oh, I will, oh rainbow ranger!” Jason retorted between giggles, which caused Zack, Rocky, and Billy to begin laughing as well.
“I’m glad you all find this so amusing,” Adam told them. “I for one am very upset.” No one actually believed him, mainly due to the large smile that covered his face.
“Really Adam; maybe you should share your ill contentment with the rest of us, because I’m sure it very much out weighs my own,” Tommy replied dryly, rolling his eyes. Kimberly just snickered and patted his arm.
“Ignore Mr. Grumpy butt, Adam; what’s wrong?”
Jason was smiling from ear to ear. Although he’d never talked to anyone about the Tommy/Kimberly breakup, it had deeply affected him, perhaps more so than any of the others. Kimberly had been one of his closest friends—in fact, she’d been the second friend he’d ever made. There were times when he forgot that she wasn’t his little sister. And Tommy had quickly become his best friend, back in the early days of being Power Rangers. Tommy and Kim had seemed so perfect together that Jason had always figured they were the thing to aspire to. The beginnings of his relationship with Trini had, in fact, found him comparing himself and Trini to Tommy and Kimberly (with only slight color differences), and it had freaked him out beyond belief when it had ended, so suddenly and without warning and out of the freaking blue. What was a guy to do when the standard for relationships just disappeared? It didn’t help that he and Trini had decided to cool it at the time. Jason had suddenly found himself thinking that if there was no hope for Tommy and Kimberly, there was certainly no hope for Jason and Trini… ever. He still couldn’t believe that he was now married to Trini when Tommy and Kimberly were still single and hadn’t spoken in years, and Jason still had a nagging suspicion in the back of his head that no relationship, no matter how perfect it seemed, was forever.
“And you did a brilliant job too.”
Billy shook his head as he watched her all but crawl into the tank. It was a huge, seventy-gallon affair that was frankly bigger than she was. She had an elaborate under water garden going and only two spoiled occupants to inhabit it. Those occupants had traveled in their own ten-gallon temporary tanks and watched him curiously through the glass. The stupid fantail goldfish had known immediately he could communicate with them and wiggled and twisted around trying to get his attention.
