“Jason suggested a competition, between the yellow and red rangers since there’s the same amount of each of them present, if we don’t count you,” Kim called back. “Relay race. The winning team is the superior color; at least between the two.”
“Why not make it three teams?” Ethan asked as the group in the pool went to join the others.
“There’s only two whites, one pink, two blues, and two bla... oh wait a minute,” Billy said, realization dawning on his face. He let go of Trini who jumped on top of her husband, and began pounded on his chest.
“Billy! A little help here!” Jason choked out. Billy grinned and pulled Trini off of Jason, forcing her onto a chair as Adam did the same with Aisha.
“Please tell me I don’t have to participate in this thing,” Adam pleaded, following Billy’s train of thought. Tommy joined him nodding, while Zack was grinning like crazy.Billy looked down at his outfit—jeans and an old red T-shirt of Jason’s, both of which were rather baggy on him and made him look incredibly skinny. The sleeves of the shirt were almost hanging at his wrists. “Smaller clothes would be preferable,” Billy admitted. “Do you have anything blue?”
“Tommy should,” Zack said cheerfully. “He has every other color known to man.”
“Ha, ha,” Tommy said, rolling his eyes.
“Actually, Blue’s the one color he hasn’t been, right?” Billy said, looking a little nervous.
“And I’m never gonna be Blue!” Tommy insisted. “I’m through. I’m done. Four was enough.”
“First ever Orange,” Jason said in a stage-whisper.“Why is that thing in here?” Tommy asked coming to a stop just short of the main control panel and turning around to get a good look at the tank.
“My point exactly.” Billy said, his angst returning.
“Because no one will baby-sit until the house is finished.” Kim responded firmly, “And I’m not going to waste money on renting another apartment when they’re perfectly fine in here.”
Money was quickly becoming an issue with Kimberly. The house was going to cost an unbelievable amount to renovate, even with her Ranger connections, and she’d just received a letter from a lawyer letting her know she needed to either go back to school or get at least a part time job for her trust fund payments to continue.
“Kimberly…” Tommy started in a warning tone he’d developed just for her. A tone she despised. She looked up and shot him a look that meant she wasn’t going to argue the point.
